In 2010, James LEUNG was appointed as the Director of Music and Superintendent of the Hong Kong Police Band (HKPB). Under his leadership, the HKPB took part in around 700 performances locally and overseas each year with a wide range of formats and works, including international gala parades, festivity events and community promotional activities. Unlike other music ensembles, the performance of HKPB requires a longer time for arrangement as it involves both music and marching elements.
The participants were inspired by his sharing on different types of bands and musical instruments, the most unforgettable performance experience, the career development as musicians and administrators, as well as the professionalism and ethics.
After the talk, Constanze LEE and DoDo LAU jointly presented the music and dance of the Baroque period and in the Court of Louis XIV of France under the 'Showcase Series'. Constanze played three music pieces of Rameau with harpsichord, including Allemande, Sarabande and Menuet, while the ballet students from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts demonstrated the respective dances of Court. The participants were given a profound aesthetic experience of the arts in the 17th century.
