CHAN Ting-yuen, Timothy
Bassoon Soloist

Ting-yuen received his Bachelor of Music from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with first-class honours under the tutelage of Mr KAM Shui, former principal bassoon of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He gained the Royal Schools of Music DipABRSM at the age of 14 and has been taught in classes by international renowned artists such as Martin GATT, Meyrick ALEXANDER, Matthew RUGGIERO, Andrea de FLAMMINEIS, Daniel JEMISON, Henrik RABIEN, Marc ENGELHARDT, David SEIDEL, Lori WIKE, Kim LASKOWSKI, Steven DIBNER, Per HANNEVOLD, Nancy GOERES, Christopher MILLARD, Gustavo NÚÑEZ, Ole Kristian DAHL, Georg KLÜTSCH, Julie PRICE and Dag JENSEN.

Ting-yuen was named "Young Music Makers 2011" by the RTHK, where he recorded radio, television and CD programmes. Apart from solo playing, he has regularly played in many different orchestras, including Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia. In 2012, he was chosen to participate in the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School with a full scholarship from the Asian Cultural Council.

He was previously the chairman of The Bassoonion, a registered bassoon organisation in Hong Kong which aims at introducing bassoon to the general public. He has just completed his Master of Music degree in the Universität der Künste Berlin, under the tutelage of Professor Eckart HÜBNER.
