Awardee of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship Scheme 2013-14, 2022-23

Judy Yiu is an international dance artist, gymnastic coach, RYT 500 certified yoga teacher, and art film director. A former Hong Kong Gymnastic Team member (1998-2003), she graduated with a BFA in Contemporary Dance at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and a MFA in Dance at Hollins University (USA) with the scholarship from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. Judy is a traveller who loves nature; her choreographies are inspired by her traveling experiences in the natural world, and her successful collaborations, in many different countries, with prominent artists. Judy's dance film Place in Motion was selected at numerous famous film festivals, and her co-directed short drama film Joss Stick and Paper received The Best Film Gold Award, The Best Director Award, and The Best Actor Award at 2017 My Future Singapore Micro Film Competition (Open Category). Judy founded "Judy Yiu Dance & Gymnastics Company" in 2017, and collaborated with international schools to promote dance education and bring job opportunities to the industry. Judy has more than 19 years' teaching experience, from kindergarten to graduate level, and is currently continuing her gymnastics career as the Hong Kong Gymnastics National Team Choreographer. In this role, Judy is creating a new pedagogy combining gymnastics and dance, with a view to enhancing artistic presentation for gymnasts and introducing gymnastic upside-down balance technique into dance.

Judy is devoted to art education and was awarded scholarships from the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund in 2021, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund in 2022, to study Doctor of Education (Department of Curriculum and Instruction) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
